If employees really are your "most valuable asset", shouldn't they be getting your best investment?

By developing your employees, you are making an investment that pays a higher return-on-investment (ROI) than any new equipment or facility. Effective Human Resource and Human Development systems will harness the energy of everyone in your company.

Systems for Recruiting, Interviewing, Selecting, and Hiring the Best

The best candidate for your organization is one who meets legitimate job qualifications and fits in the best with your culture. Far too many employers hire "poor fits" by failing to recruit for specific technical and behavioral competencies. The cost of a bad hire exceeds money--it costs bad feelings and hurts morale.

Employee Training and Development

A robust training system is absolutely vital to support your business objectives. The best training system starts with the organizations' business needs, assess the current situation, translates this into training needs, and measures the business results of the training.

Employee Performance Management

Few people like to give and receive performance reviews. No wonder--most are exercises in raw power. However, a well-done system starts with very clear goals, and with workers rating managers. In a climate of genuine trust, people will seek out ways to improve their performance.

Below is a summary of some InterLink projects

InterLINK developed a 360 degree performance review system for employees in a high-tech manufacturing facility.  Individual performance metrics were linked to the company's formal mission, vision and values.  This new system increased the  compliance rate from less than 30% to virtually 100%.

We created an innovative employee survey process that measures alignment with organization goals and business strategy, and that allows ongoing evaluation and continuous improvement of employee satisfaction. The survey process was documented in a feature article in Quality Progress, the official publication of the American Society for Quality.  Click here to LINK to that article.

InterLINK developed a Competency Model for recruitment at a financial services firm that allowed managers to check the candidates for both technical competency and the ability to "fit" into the organization. The managing partner stated "We went from hiring long-term problems to hiring good performers that we all like to work with".

We created the Employee Development Plan Process to help align the aspirations of the individual and the goals of the organization. This process places a strong emphasis on education critical to personal and professional growth, and is a more desirable alternative to the standard Performance Evaluation, a process uncomfortable too both parties.

We designed and implemented customized leadership development training programs that effectively integrated practical skill training into the overall leadership development process for several small- to medium-sized companies. The Leadership Teams developed a shared direction, defined roles, and in the words of one executive, "provided effective leadership for the first time".

We designed and developed a program for all employees of a small equipment distributor that formalized training procedures of the company for each position and a cross-training program that increased the communications between different departments. A customized reference binder was issued to each individual employee followed by ongoing communication and updates to keep the binder, the procedures, and the communication completely up-to-date going forward.
